(Video) Mohamed Salah scores historic goal for Egypt

Watch Mohamed Salah score his 50th goal for Egypt as his nation beat minnows Malawi 2-0 in AFCON qualifying.

The Pharaohs got themselves back to winning ways in their AFCON buildup, after a 2-0 defeat to Ethiopia in Matchday Two of qualifying back in June and Salah scored his half-century goal for his nation after 20 minutes yesterday.

The strike puts him just 18 goals behind his country’s all-time top scorer in Hossam Hassan, who represented Egypt between 1985 and 2006 and Salah is the only player in the top nine scorers to still be active, so he’s in no danger of being caught.

Finishing off a cutback from fullback Mohamed Hamdy Sharaf, Salah’s goal set the tone for the match as Egypt dominated the next 70 minutes, having 21 shots at 70% possession as Malawi struggled to impose their will on the seven-time AFCON winners.
