The former Cork hurling goalkeeper and now RTE pundit Dónal Óg Cusack was on The Saturday Game last night and again he blames the GAA and says the organisation has failed the game of hurling. Does the Cloyne man have a point? I think he does, see some of his chat below;

Donal og speaks some sense but how can Carlow (6 clubs) compete with say cork (45+ clubs)..its simply a playing numbers game..every county below Liam should have a rolling 5 yr plan to expand underage clubs playing hurling. Increase the playing base, you increase the standards..

Agreed and what plan had the previous National Dev officer have ? Talking about hurling is not a plan.Put in a qualified coach developer who is organised and has experience, give them funds and power to grow the game.

The hurling has been brilliant this year, but there are some major cracks, no doubt about it and the GAA have to help hurling big time and give it more air to grow. The smaller counties that are trying to get better at hurling need to be given every chance to get up to the mark. Will the GAA listen to what the former Cork goalkeeper has to say..
