The now former Meath manager Andy McEntee has stepped down from his post of the Meath senior footballers. The former Ballyboden manager was subject to some online abuse and since he stepped down his son Shane has taken to twitter to defend his father by saying;
‘Flights cost €1k and I paid for them. I then paid another €500 to change it and make an extra training. Online abuse, letters to the house. You can put yourself forward for these roles or you can tweet about it, one takes a bit more conviction.’

Andy McEntee dedicated himself 100% to the Meath Senior Football team for 6 years. To reach Super 8s and Division 1 was a great achievement. Andy is a passionate man of great honesty and integrity. Thanks Andy and best of luck in the future. https://t.co/mjHDwGlKPR

The level of vitriol for Andy McEntee online is appalling. Grand, you might not have liked him or the results but words can be forgiven, not forgotten!
My own experiences with the man were positive, surly pitchside and a gentleman outside! @MeathGAA pic.twitter.com/dlF8ByEb6F

The abuse being directed at Andy McEntee & his family is abhorrent and undeserved. The Meath seniors are not where we want them to be, but making it personal is taking it too far. Wishing Andy & his family all the very best. Thank you for all your hard work. Onwards. An Mhí Abú.

There should really be something done about these social media companies that are getting away with paying no tax in Ireland and then letting people with no faces attack people in the public spotlight.
